Training Hard

At last we are a complete four!  Colin Corfield has joined us and it was his baptism of fire as we took The Atlantic Guardsman out for two days and nights.  There’s a lot to learn and while it didn’t all go perfectly we have learnt from our mistakes!  We launched from Burnham on Crouch and headed out to the North Sea, making our way to Swin Spitway (51°41.971'N 1°8.288'E) near one of the North Sea Wind Farms.  We practiced our anchor drills, cooking drills and shift changes.  It’s fair to say we haven’t quite got the hang of the navigation system and the autohelm yet – but it’ll come!

We have several more training rows planned.  We need to complete at least 120 hours at sea before we head to a Gomera.  We’ve clocked up around 50 so far!
